Who Can Participate
CPSP is open to any Vermont and Upstate New York resident who has received a diagnosis of cancer and for the families of cancer patients. When dealing with cancer, many questions and situations arise. It can be helpful to speak with someone who is familiar with cancer issues. Some of the questions that arise are:
- How do I tell my children or my parents about my illness?
- I'm feeling scared and anxious about having surgery and treatment. What can I expect?
- I’m angry this happened to me. It isn’t fair. Am I wrong to feel this way?
How do I get my life back to normal when treatment is completed? - I keep worrying that my cancer is going to come back. How do I get beyond this feeling?
CPSP Coordinator Kathy McBeth and Clinical psychologist Dr. Rose Colletti provide psychological support services that include one-on-one counseling, family counseling, crisis intervention and the creation and mentoring of support groups.
